Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth. Sometimes known as a ‘cap’, they are a fixed restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of the original natural tooth.
Crowns may need to be fitted to a tooth that is cracked, decayed or damaged. They are also used to reshape and realign uneven teeth and can dramatically improve the appearance of a tooth that has been badly discoloured by fillings adding to a healthy and vibrant smile.
In root-filled teeth it may be necessary to add support and help the crown stay in place by inserting a “post”. Made of stainless steel, posts are fitted directly into the root canal and can be either pre-fabricated or custom made by our Dental Technicians to accurately fit the shape of the prepared root canal. Once the post is in place, the crown is attached on top.

Full Porcelain Crowns
The use of full Porcelain Crowns is rapidly increasing. Displaying the same translucence as normal teeth, full Porcelain Crowns have a completely natural look making them esthetically the preferred choice for front teeth replacement. With the strength of modern materials now used in their construction, they can also be placed anywhere in the mouth.
Porcelain on Metal Crowns
Porcelain fused to metal Crowns remain one of dentistry's primary restorations of choice; they are strong and reliable.
ALLOY - A metal thimble base is cast in noble alloy using the impression taken by the Dentist then veneered with layers of porcelain and fired in a kiln fusing the porcelain to the metal thimble. Depending upon the individual, gum recession may occur and this metal thimble can show up as a very fine black line just at the gum level.
Often used in the molar regions as they can withstand considerable biting force, these are still the most popular crowns.
GOLD - When individual back teeth are broken but some good healthy tooth structure remains, porcelain fused to gold crowns can be used. This is the strongest and longest lasting back teeth restoration procedure. Once the tooth is properly prepared, the technique is similar to the porcelain fused to metal crown technique. The benefit of this restoration is the strength advantage of a gold base which supports the tooth during heavy biting.

Dental Crown treatment is arranged in the following steps according to the results of Initial Consultation:
• Preparation of the teeth
• Impression taking
• Construction of the crown
• Insertion of the final Crown
One week is normally more than enough for most crown work.
You will need to have 2 appointments these can be made during a single 1 week visit to the clinic or over 2 shorter visits to Budapest.
During your first visit the dentist will prepare the tooth / teeth to provide an easy fit for the crown.
An impression of your teeth is taken which is used to construct your crown.
A temporary crown is then fitted onto the teeth.
On your next visit, the dentist removes the temporary crown and fits the permanent crown onto the teeth.
