What is a Dental Tooth Implant?
A dental implant is a substitute for a natural root but even stronger.
Implants are a well-established, tried-and-tested treatment.
Dental Implants are made of Titanium, a stable, totally resistant metal that is biocompatible and therefore well tolerated by the human body.
They are placed directly into the jawbone and act as replacement roots upon which crowns and bridges may be fixed. Dental implants offer a permanent fixed tooth replacement. Not only the appearance, but also the safe feeling of natural teeth is restored.

Why have dental implants?
Patients are learning there is a better alternative to living their lives wearing dentures. That alternative is Dental Implants.
Along with great-looking teeth, implants will greatly improve your quality of life being able to eat whatever you want without pain or problems.
If you have lost teeth due to a dental extraction, an accident or decay, this loss changes the look of your smile, your bite puts stress on surrounding teeth to compensate for the lost tooth.
Our Implant Procedure.
A thorough and detailed examination is necessary to determine the state of the bone in your jaw. It is the results of this examination, conducted by Dr. Louis Patonay, our Chief Dental Surgeon and Implantologist, that will determine the implant treatment options available to you. If there is not enough bone, or if it isn’t sufficiently healthy, it may not be possible to place implants without first having a bone-graft which could be your own or artificial.
According to the results of consultation and examination of the jawbone, Implantological treatment is arranged in the following steps:
• Insertion of the implant
• Healing of the gum
• Exposure of the implant(s)
• Impression taking
• Insertion of crown and bridge or overdenture
Implants require a 3 to 5 day stay depending on the treatment needed. After implantation, a healing period is necessary (normally 3 to 6 months). During this time the bone grows around and bonds to the implant screw’s roughened surface. The implant thus becomes firmly fixed in the jawbone.
At the end of the healing period a return visit of between 5 and 15 days is required for the fitting of the permanent teeth. Many patients break the second stage into two parts, spread over two weeks.
